Tagged!! As a Film Blogger of the Universe

My blog was tagged at Christmas by a lovely blogger in a It’s a Wonderful Tag, and retagging some more lovely other Film blogging writers…

So this morning, I discovered that I’d been tagged by the lovely Thoughts of All Sorts way back in December in a Christmassy post. This I hadn’t seen at the time, but was a lovely wee mention from this wonderful blogger.. who I always remember fondly for bringing Lou Diamond Philips’ cameo to my Darlin Dallasers Blogathon and supportive comments throughout my blogging career. As well as a discussion on Leonardo DiCaprio’s better movies, so what’s not to like. More from this wonderful blogger can be found HERE where Thoughts talks about film, movies and music in a great fun, readable way… and a big thanks for tagging me and letting me gitter on about one of my fave subjects!

So whats it all about, to prevent confusion I’ve added the definition of it here, cut and pasted from the Thoughts of All Sorts site…

In addition, I noticed that you add info and link to the the blogger who tagged you and tag at least 8 other blogs… leaving the questions template for the questions asked.

So here’s my answers – in bold – for the questions set..

All I Want For Christmas is You | Which DVD/Blu-Ray would you like to receive this year?

SURRENDER, from left: Steve Guttenberg, Sally Field, Michael Caine, 1987, © Warner Brothers

Belatedly, would love to rewatch any of the early Steve Martin comedies –  All of Me (1984) or The Man With Two Brains (1984) –  or some of the 80s comic films of Michael Caine such as Surrender (1987) – see pic above –, Water (1985) or Sweet Liberty (1986).. not enough of these 80s classics on Netflix!!!

Jingle Bell Rock | Favorite soundtrack or song from a Christmas film?

somewhereintime

That’s a hard one! Probably the soundtrack to Somewhere in Time (1980), which is a fave film that I associate with watching at Christmas.. but definitely not The Snowman (1982).

Let it Snow | 3 of your favorite Christmas films…

scrooged

  1. Scrooged (1985), Bill Murray – need I say more, 80s cameos and stars in A Christmas Carol reboot
  2. The Muppet Christmas Carol (1992), Michael Caine meets the Muppets as one of best Scrooges ever!
  3. Gremlins (1984), a film enjoyed with my wee family and that fantastic scene with a stair-lift and a  microwave that got us giggling.

Donald Trump | A film that divides opinion…

your-highness-1024

Your Highness (2011) , a  wonderfully underappreciated film that is funny, has a fantastic cast and has to be the best comic bromance film ever with McBride and Franco. Love it if they made a comic reference to it in the new Alien movie..

Brexit | Favorite British Film…

about

About Time (2013) – About true love, about a great film cast and lovely Rachel McAdams.

Fidel Castro | A film that divides opinion… A film considered culturally significant

harold-and-maude

Love Harold and Maude (1971), one of the best 1970s films and a great age gap movie.

Starbucks | Favorite Film Franchise…

startrek

Another hard one.. not the Hobbit films, maybe Die Hard ones… but more likely the William Shatner Star Trek films  (thanks to Darlin’ Husband)

McDonald’s Happy Meal | Favorite Childhood Film…

international-velvet

International Velvet (1978), not because it’s a horsey film but a great soppy story and a young Christopher Plummer.

‘Cheeky Nandos’ | Favorite Comedy

lego_batmanProbably going to be the Lego Batman Movie (2017) after seeing the trailers but Deadpool (2017) will always have a special place in my heart…

One film you want all of your followers to watch…

david2

Very hard one! Has to be David and Lisa (1998), watched and reviewed it for a recent blogathon. Great touching performances and a fantastically written script. Got me sobbing and one of the more original teen romance films…
