#AllPosts

This March, its pop goes (to) the blogathon…

Celebrating pop stars in acting roles in movies and on TV.

Famous Singers Cameos in Movies, Salty Facts

As much as I’d like to take credit for this idea, my blogathon topic of Pop Stars in the movies and TV was chosen at random by my Darlin Husband. Darlin Husband understands just what makes me as an entertainment blogger go ooh and aah at a movie or TV show.

This new blogathon will be from 12 to 14 March 2020.. and yes my fellow blogathon addicts, the third year of celebrating all things Michael Caine is on hold till next year. So this March instead come and join my Pop Stars in the Movies or TV blogathon, and boy have you a wealth of talent to choose from.

Examples found on my blog include… Cher in Moonstruck (1987), Mamma Mia Here We Go Again (2018) or The Witches of Eastwick (1987) (the latter stars Michelle Pfeiffer too… yes that is a wee hint, you know who you are), Olivia Newton John in Grease (1978) Roger Daltrey in The Legacy (1978) and more are found HERE.  Other pop star names in film or TV include David Bowie, Barbra Streisand, Phil Collins, Meat Loaf, Petula Clark, Cliff Richard and Sting.

My choice for this blogathon is Jos Raskastat (2010) .. which boasts a supporting role from Sarah Kivi, a Finnish musician and performer.

If you are stuck on a choice… IMDB has a whole list of pop stars in film HERE... and there are even more HERE.

If you want to celebrate pop stars in the film check out those rules…

PLEASE NOTE: I will be allowing any pop stars from any country.. ! But please add your pop star choice to your review suggestion. Musicals are allowed but no actors who became pop stars rule out everyone from Kylie Minogue to Patrick Duffy. Cameos in movies are also not allowed.

So get your thinking cap on…

Rules…

  1. You can review ANY pop star or stars in any of their films or TV appearances but only in an acting role.
  2. I will allow just three duplicates for each movie or TV Show but I’m allowing only two choices per reviewer.
  3. Review choices can be added as a comment on this page or you can contact me on my Contact Me page  – either way please add the name and URL of your blog along with your movie or TV choice. Or you can send me a Direct Message on Twitter. Please add the year if it’s a film or TV show. Please add the name of your pop star!
  4. Add your Twitter handle so I can promote your post.
  5. You can only use new posts or new reviews.
  6. A full list of blogs and review choices will be posted on my who’s doing what page and this will be updated regularly.
  7. Send the link to your post to me on the days of the blogathon.
  8.  Please include a picture of the pop star from your review choice and add info on their role in your review.
  9.  Have fun!

Now send me your request and once I’ve oked it, please do add one of the banners below on your blog. All choices will be listed on my Who’s Doing What page HERE

The banners are below…

Hope to hear from you soon…

  1. “Marky Mark” Wahlberg had a (thankfully) brief career as a pop star. Of course everybody knows him as an actor. The choices are numerous, and I’m surprised his name isn’t on the list yet. I’d like to do the one that put him on the radar: “Boogie Nights”.

  2. Hello, Gill – Such a marvelous idea for a Blogathon! If I may, I’d like to write about pop star Mick Jagger’s appearance in the 1970 Donald Cammell/Nicholas Roeg film “Performance.”

  3. Hey!

    Great idea for a blogathon.

Wondering how you’re defining pop star…. That is, strictly from rock’n’roll on, or would you accept Frank Sinatra, who was a huge pop star.

Anyway, considering A Hard Day’s Night, but also considering maybe an Elvis movie. I have a years-old but still fun post on Jailhouse Rock, would that be acceptable?

Thanks, look forward to reading the entries!

  4. Hadn’t really planned on doing two. But my original first thought when I saw this blogathon was the Neil Diamond remake of the the classic “the Jazz Singer”. The only reason I didn’t pick it was because I couldn’t find it online, and I didn’t have it in my collection already. But my local library just added it. I still want to do “Roadie” but can I also do “The Jazz Singer”?
