Not a me, me, me kinda person so a short and sweet version of it all.

 

About me…

 

Hi, I’m Gill, a wee (about 5ft) Scottish lass and Native English writer living in Finland. I’ve been married just over eight years (at the time of update) – but together for a lot longer – to a much taller, not much younger Englishman, known here as Darlin Husband.

My 2 (now very occasional) Star Wars film loving stepdudes, the supertall older stepson and his not so “wee” brother – invade every second weekend. When they were wee, we spoke Finglish (and now only English) and ate anything but Finnish food in Little Britain, aka the kids’ one time childhood nickname for our home.

I will be gittering on – i.e. talking about – about entertainment of all sorts with occasional tales about Finland, Scotland, expat stepmum life, films (especially disaster movies), film and TV related music, TV, books, Dallas (the original series), mental health, handsome actors ( here read current crushes as Alain Delon and Helmut Berger) and other random topics.

Often my reviews will come with a wee informative or apt comment provided by Darlin Husband… This sofa companion for most of these reviewed films incidentally chose the picture for this page saying it sums up the ingredients of my blog perfectly.

Speaking of random topics, with credit where credit is due, my Gravatar and WordPress blog icon is from Shannon McGee and can be found on Flickr HERE. It has not been altered from the original picture. This picture is also found on my blog promotion sites such as Mastodon, Facebook and Pinterest. It’s called Movie Night W/Cina and it’s just purrfect (pun intended).

Realweegiemidget translates as “real little Glaswegian”. This Scottish phrase kinda sums me up really. I’ve been square-eyed – a phrase for describing a non-stop telly watcher – and obsessed with filums (as I used to pronounce this word) since I was really wee. My mum says used to find my head underneath the covers, watching my filums.

In the 1980s, I got obsessed with Dallas (the original series), sometime around the time JR Ewing got shot. This TV series is probably mentioned here more than it should be… Speaking of reviews, I’ve added a trailer – or preview – for everything I review from YouTube (or other mentioned sites) so you can get the full cinematic experience. Also, a super huge thanks to my Darlin Husband for being my sometimes editor, but the main supporter.  I would like to point out he is Darlin without the G, and it’s not as a reference to those forum sites that talk about the DH.  Darlin Husband is however a homage to the great, late Larry Hagman who – on being cast as the man you love to hate, J.R. Ewing in Dallas – was called Darlin’ by Linda Gray – who was to be cast as his wife Sue Ellen  – on meeting her on their first day on the Dallas (1978-91) set. And Sue Ellen was inspiring to me as a kid, as you will discover…

Anyway, Darlin, thank you for helping me understand all the computer stuff (such as knowing that Stats is not a motivational pop-up of a shirtless Jason Statham when you finish a blog entry.. but it so should be). Also for your riffing, your random film facts, for providing the tissues when I sob, for stopping me from getting irritated and turning green at times and for not minding getting your hand squeezed when I get scared.

I love you now, today, always and tomorrow and you will always be my no 1 eye candy (sorry to Helmut Berger and Alain Delon, who are joint 2nd at the time of writing).
