Calling all bloggers, for your latest writing challenge, a blogathon where it’s literally all in the name…
Join me and the blogger with a Hitchcock film’s titular character’s name, that’s Rebecca from Taking Up Room with our new blogathon this May.
Top 10 Movies With A Character’s Name In The Title | Keyword Search, imdb, Facebook
Today I am announcing the second of my blogathons for 2024, and this time it’s for my annual joint blogathon outing with lovely Rebecca from Taking Up Room. The blogathon’s name says it all, as it’s all in the title – with a forename or surname found in the title of your film or TV related review choice. Or in the title ie name of one of the cast.. And no, it’s not just an excuse to add this lovely picture of Helmut Berger in The Secret of Dorian Gray (1970).
The blogathon topic is simply to review a film, TV Show or TV episode with a character’s full name in the title eg The Thomas Crown Affair (1968) or John Wick : Chapter 3 Parabellum (2019)…
or iust a character’s first name eg. Marnie (1964), The Last of Sheila (1973) or Frances (1982)…
or just the character’s surname – eg MacGyver (1985-92) or Hart to Hart (1979-84).
or you can also choose to review any film, TV episode or TV Show with an actor or actress with two first names and review or write about anything or everything related to them. Be it the actor, Christopher George or Cary Grant or the actresses, Sarah Douglas and Lee Grant.
We are also allowing international names so entries can include Sorjonen (2016-2020) (a Finnish crime show), documentaries eg Valerie: A Portrait of Valerie Perrine (2019) and biopics eg Liz and Dick (2012). Plural surnames can also be allowed eg The Waltons (1972-81).
The choice is yours…
The Blogathon will be held from the 15th until the 17th of May and we will be accepting new and respectful reviews only. Also, we are asking for no duplicates and up to two entries per blogger. If you are unsure if your topic fits, contact me or Rebecca before submitting / writing your post.
Please include the “Character” that you have chosen from your title as well as your review choice eg. Benji in Benji (1974) and Enter the Ninja (1981) with Christopher George.
Here are the rules…
- You can review ANY films, TV Movies, TV episodes or TV shows that relate to the descriptions above.
- If you want to review books, lists or topics eg 5 Films with Harry in the Title, that’s okay with us too.
- We will allow no duplicates for each topic be it a film, TV Movie, TV episode or TV show. Or a cast member. You can only write on those previously mentioned if they are in a list – see above – or a retrospective review.
- A maximum of two posts per person is allowed…
- Review choices should be added as a comment on this page or you can contact me on my Contact Me page – please add the name and URL of your blog along with your choice.
- We won’t accept posts that are uncomplimentary or disrespectful to these topics.
- Add your Mastodon, Facebook, Twitter and Bluesky usernames so we can promote your post.
- You can also add podcasts, YouTube or Tumblr posts.
- A full list of blogs, podcasters and review choices will be posted on this page HERE and updated regularly. ‘
- Only original, never before published posts will be accepted.
- Send your link to your post link/podcast/video to Rebecca or me on the days of the blogathon.
- Note we will be publishing all the links on both blogs on each day of the blogathon. As we both have completely different time zones this may mean you turn up on two days depending on when you add your post.
- All post choices must be confirmed with Rebecca and I first or they won’t be added to the blogathon. It is not fair to others otherwise.
Not forgetting those important links…
Imdb lists some films with names in the title HERE and more are HERE.
The Who is Doing What page for the blogathon is HERE.
These are my and Rebecca’s review choices… and scroll down and then add one of those all important banners to your site and your post…
Realweegiemidget Reviews… An actress and actor with two forenames, Susan George and Edward Albert in The House Where Evil Dwells (1982).
Taking Up Room… The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn (1939)
Don’t forget to include a banner in your post…
Hope you hear from you soon…

Hi! I haven’t forgotten about the blogathon. Life threw me a few curve balls that kept me busy. But I’m slowly getting back into the swing of things. I want to review Melvin and Howard (1980) & The World According to Garp (1982). :)

I’ve just been blind buing blurays at the charity shops and I think I’ve found a film for this blogathon. Beowulf & Grendel (2005) starring Gerard Butler. He’s always watchable so it can’t be bad….can it? LOL.

Just added you know, as for Butler,.. vaguely remember this one, and Butler always makes bad films fun, see Geostorm, Greenland, Plane etc etc.

This sounds fantastic Realweegie :) You might find my choice silly, but I actually love the fourth Rambo film from 2008 entitled Rambo. I love it for what it is, an old-school action film :) As much as I would love to do one on something more complex, that would take a considerable amount of time. The theories I give with something like Rambo does not need much explaining :)

Hi Gill, which do you prefer? “Willy Wonka” in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (1973), “Peggy Sue” in Peggy Sue Got Married, or “Muriel” in Muriel’s Wedding? I’ll pick one of those.

I love your thinking for all of these, any or two of them are perfect unless you want to do a list of your favourite name films…

I really hesitated between this and Georgy Girl, two films with very similar titles haha

I see your dilemma, interested if your Gregory Girl is dubbed or subtitled as the Scottish accents are a wee bit strong. I saw Trainspotting with subtitles in England, which was crazy…

Hi Gill! Put me down for The File on Thelma Jordan (1949). It’s about time I did something noirish, and Barbara’s an added incentive. – Brian

Adding you now, thanks Brian. Always good to have a certain cast member for incentive… only seen Barbara in Charlie’s Angels, The Thorn Birds and The Colbys so this will be a treat.
