NEWS… It’s Day 4 and It’s a Wrap!

#AllPosts

There’s good news and there’s bad news for you all…

Recalling our fabulous array of bloggers who joined the fun.

Just so it doesn’t hang over you like a cloud, here’s the bad news this is the final post of the Hammer-Amicus blogathon run by myself and lovely Barry from Cinematic Catharsis for this year. As the good news is, that is one of our brief catch-ups – ie when I wake up and Barry gets ready to retire for the evening – we discussed how wonderfully this blogathon had progressed.

We decided that…  like Damien in the Omen II (1978) and even the Spawn of the Fly in The Fly (1986)… cue drum roll… that it deserves a sequel so we are holding this particular blogathon again next year… so get your thinking caps on. We hope to see you all again next year as a reader or participant or both in this blogathon of all Amicus and Hammer things and not necessarily horror.

This with so many wonderfully written, passionate tribute entries all and a fantastic turnout! I’ve read and commented on all these fabulous posts like a demented stalker (just commenting now if you are on today’s list of lovelies). If for any reason your comment isn’t in your comments column or your spam folder (because to WordPress I must appear as a deranged and demented stalker) please tell me and I’ll try again.

Over the last few days, we’ve had posts on recipes, dinosaurs, anagrams, a musical, a director and lots and lots of movies. We’ve had horror in the shape of vampires, werewolves and mummies. We’ve had an all-star cast including Vincent Price, Peter Cushing, Michael Gambon and Roy Castle. Not forgetting lovely Hammer ladies including Caroline Munro, Angharad Rees, Joan Collins and Joan Fontaine.

I’d like to thank you all for those wonderfully researched and interesting posts, those that made me laugh, those bamboozling anagrams, those scrummy-looking recipes and thanks to you all for adding all of these films to my to watch pile… so thank you all.

And you can read about all those terrific posts by randomly clicking these blogathon filled days (in whatever order you like)…

Day 1

Day 2

Day 3

Today the fun continues with a few later entries to the proceedings.. so if you are really, really late then your post will be added here. Tune in here for updates on those final posts. I’d also like to thank my wonderful co-host Barry for his support and doing the “night” shift for this blogathon, and for introducing me to some wonderful bloggers and blogs

Also thanks for coming out of your semi-retirement for what you thought would be one last blogathon job. But like Danny Glover as Roger Murtaugh in the Lethal Weapon franchise, there’s at least one more sequel. I do promise not to go crazy-Martin Riggs (Mel Gibson) on you.

Tune in later this month for my next Blogathon announcement, another joint blogathon but this time with a lovely, leading lady… for which I’m just making the banners now!

Kicking off the blogathon’s final posts we have that wonderful co-host from Cinematic Catharsis on Hammer‘s Twins of Evil (1971)…

Silver Screen Classics shares his post on Dracula, Prince of Darkness (1966)…

Micro-Brewed Reviews tells us more about Hammer’s When Dinosaurs Ruled the Earth (1970)…

CarcinoGent’s Movie Space adds a Hammer post all about Murder by Proxy (also known as Blackout) (1954)…

The Midnite Drive In gives us a double bill of Amicus dinosaurs in The Land that Time Forgot (1975) and The People that Time Forgot (1977).

A Scunner Darkly adds his views on Hammer’s Horror of Dracula (1958).

Christina Wehner shares her take on Hammer‘s The Revenge of Frankenstein (1958).

Last but not least (so far)… we’ve two entries from J’aime regarder des films on AmicusTales From The Crypt (1972) and Hammer‘s Fear in the Night (1972).

Do tune in throughout the day and after as there are a few more, fashionably late ones due! Or tune in next year for that sequel that everyone wants as we enter the Amicus and Hammer studios once more…

  2. I am so glad you are having it again next year! Next year I’ll try to write about an Amicus film as well as a Hammer film. I didn’t have time this year as the 50th anniversary of The Prisoner’s debut here in the Colonies was Friday. Anyway, I really enjoyed the blogathon. Thank you for holding it!
