Today, we are remeeting the Guardians of the Galaxy (2014), my Marvel favourites in what looks to be a fab sequel yay! This comes with a great soundtrack, action and comedy. I’ll put an emphasis on the comedy superhero writers.. as so far it seems just Paul Rudd and Ryan Reynolds have injected their sense of humour into their superheroes.

This is the review of the second of two trailers for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017). The first trailer concentrated on Star-Lord as he (stupidly) confided in Drax of his burgeoning feelings for Gamora. This has the sensitive side of Drax in full display. The second trailer starts with at last a proper introduction, to Baby Groot, or as I like to call him Wee Groot. Baby Groot is the supercute, wide-eyed remains of Big Groot who sadly died in the last movie.

We also meet the rest of the gang again with Peter Quill / Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) still harbouring a bit of a crush on Gamora (Zoe Saldana). Sorry, but her name still sounds like a dodgy disease. I’m sure the rest of the mostly male population enjoyed her girl-on-girl fight with Nebula (Karen Gillan) – which sounds like the antidote – in the last film. Even though they are sisters, but not in real life making it less twisted…

But I really shouldn’t complain as I got to see Chris Pratt and hear the voices of Bradley Cooper and Wee Groot. There’s also Dave Bautista if you don’t easily fall for Pratt’s little boy lost in space look. The sequel’s trailer appears to have a more scary version of the alien from Arrival (2016).

Rocket Raccoon is Raccoonsplaining (sort of, as has Bradley Cooper’s voice remember? Not. Really. Real. Acting. CGI. Raccoon.) to Wee Groot to press a button that will kill them all. I’m immediately transported back to that scene in Father Ted. Then there’s some slow-mo Chris Pratt for my sister and lots of action bits for my stepdudes.

We meet and are reintroduced to all the Guardians again individually, with action and comic moments. Wee Groot looks like a force to be reckoned with (and is still probably the easiest money that Vin Diesel has ever made for a film). Then Star Lord’s unresolved feelings for Gamora come out…

I’m so looking forward to this movie, as it seems it’s going to be – dare I say it – a fantastic one. I’m super happy the casting hasn’t changed, the team is intact and the bromance of Wee Groot and Rocket Raccoon is still there. But I’m hoping that Wee Groot doesn’t sprout up too quickly in this film and in the next film of this franchise…
