NEWS… Welcome to the Futurethon!

#AllPosts

Is the future bright if the future is in these film and TV hands?…

It’s day one as we travel beyond the time barrier and as far as the 25th Century.

I can now officially announce that it’s Day 1 of the Futurethon (aka Set in the Future blogathon). Time travel or dystopian futures are optional, and so are future film and TV futures… You can read about all these kinds of entertainment themed reviews here. I’ll be your hostess for this blogathon and joining me is my fabulous co-host and banner maker extraordinaire, Barry from Cinematic Catharsis...

To explain to those of you who don’t know what I am gittering on about.. today and the next few days, entertainment bloggers from every part of the globe are reviewing the work of some filmmakers and TV types who took us to their fictional futures on the big and wee screen … I mean, we know that Mayan legend didn’t happen and John Cusack didn’t save the world? Or that a blade runner looking like Harrison Ford didn’t hunt for replicants…? But what did they get right and terribly wrong…?

There are some fabulous posts with all sorts of futures coming up in the next three days… And there is still time to join this blogathon with all the details and banners HERE and all those topics that are already chosen are THERE. Just leave me or my co-host Barry from Cinematic Catharsis your request – or better still both of us – and we will approve or ask you to alter your post if it’s taken, derogatory or just plain inappropriate (but chunky jumper-wearing future dwellers and time travellers is allowed, Ruth…). You will be published on both our blogs at possibly crazy times as his morning is my evening and vice versa.

Please don’t assume you are in the blogathon until we approve your pitch… and remember we are not accepting duplicates of chosen posts. This is unless you want to write a list or an overview of one or more filmmaker’s contributions to those dystopian movies, time travel movies or those movies in their then future… or you want to list your favourite films in these categories or mention 5 or more on a subtopic within these eg those funkiest of chunky jumpers. But you time travellers amongst us, and who are in the know… and can you get a giant-sized Ana de Armas to give you the benefit of her girly advice…

But I digress… now on with the show… so click on the blue links to reach the reviews and away we go…

As always, I’m kicking things off from here at Realweegiemidget Reviews, as we travel onto the 25th Century in the feature film, that spawned a TV Series with Gil Gerard in my review of Buck Rogers in the 25th Century (1979)…

Brian at Films from Beyond the Time Barrier takes us to the film that inspired his blog’s name as we travel to Beyond the Time Barrier (1960)…

Sean at Garden of Memory flashbacks to the future with his thoughts on Dune (2021)…

John from UK Film Nerd takes us a double bill with at first another movie ensemble, as he reviews the film Alien³ (Assembly Cut) (1992)…

…then this same author and blog takes us to his review of the film Moon (2009)…

Scampy from The Spirochete Trail takes us to his review of Robot & Frank (2012) with the intriguing subheading,  “You Must Have Fell On Your Head As A Baby, You Really Know How To Hurt Yourself”…

Terence from A Shroud of Thoughts takes us to a movie from the 70s set in the then future with Death Race 2000 (1975)…

Chris at Angelman’s Place takes us to a dystopian film with Charlton Heston in Soylent Green (1960)…

Rebecca at Taking Up Room takes us to Charlize Theron in Aeon Flux (2005)…

And remember to tune in to Days 2 and 3 and possibly a recap on Day 4… with a future blogathon announcement…
