Join us today for these final thoughts about Hammer and Amicus movies…
These are the last of those posts from those fantastic writers for just now, so keep tuning in as there are many more to come.
The final day of the Hammer and Amicus has come around again for the fourth time. At my last count 18 wonderful entries from writers from here and there have joined Barry at Cinematic Catharsis and I. This talented bunch of writers added their entertaining tributes relating to the Hammer and Amicus productions in some delightful posts.
As this event is like those blogathons that Cinematic Catharsis and I have held before, and there are many more to come please tune in tomorrow as we are expecting further entries. This will come as always in a new post so you get maximum coverage for your article. This is only for entrants from different time zones and those running late. If you are in this group of writers please let Barry and I know when to expect your review.
Also to those of you who added your post in the wee small hours and those who published and added a comment here after 9pm Finnish time. If this is you, you have been added to my post today, and possibly Barry’s post in my yesterday as you will know there are about 8 hours between us.
Finally, I would also like to thank my twice yearly co-host, Barry at Cinematic Catharsis for his sterling support and presence at this event. I’d also like to give a huge shout out to all the readers and to actress Judy Matheson for enthusiastically supporting this blogathon.
Also, a big thanks to all of the contributors for bringing some wonderful reviews of some familiar and new movies to the proceedings. I’ve really enjoyed reading all your posts, and please tell me if your comments not showing on your post, or in moderation or spam.
This year brought many movies some that I’ve still to watch, but now know much more about through your inviting and well researched posts. If you want to catch up with those posts you haven’t read yet, here are the links to Day 1 and Day 2.
If you’ve already got your blogathon entry in mind for next year, hold that thought. In my discussions with Barry, we have two original topics coming up. The only clues I’m giving are that these are one is about an actor and the other one is about something much more random.
We are planning to now hold the Hammer and Amicus blogathon every two years, in the hope that one day we – with those entrants’ help – will possibly cover all the movies from Hammer and Amicus. So here are those final reviews (for today)… and click on those blue links to read these posts.
Top billing today goes to my co-host Barry at Cinematic Catharsis with his review on The Reptile (1966)…
Le at Crítica Retrô adds Bela Lugosi to the blogathon in an early Hammer movie, The Mystery of the Mary Celeste aka Phantom Ship (1935)…
Andrew at Maniacs and Monsters adds a riveting review of a film from nearer the present day, Woman in Black: Angel of Death (2014)…
With now some splendid reviews of something completely different Kevin at The Grump of Terror adds his views on The Engelsfors Trilogy, a series of books from Hammer published between 2011-2015…
Holger at Hammer and Beyond writes about The Viking Queen (1967), and this is a more unique film from these production houses.
Susan at Black Cats & Poppies adds her post on a spooky movie from Amicus, The Skull (1965)…
Coming up soon for the final curtain call…

Wow… Another blogathon has come and gone (almost)! Thanks, Gill, for helping to make this look so easy (even though we both know it’s not). It’s going to be hard to keep my lips sealed about what we have in store for 2024, but the suspense is part of the fun. :)

These are both fabulous topics and so far have a couple of options for one which means it may well become a list… and the other has so many options just because… so I totally understand.

Thanks for hosting this event! However, when you discuss “a group of talented writers,” My only talent is I know how not to snap the tips off my crayons 🙂

I do remember doing that all the time at school, so must say I am impressed Dubs. A post on this please for me and my fellow crayon snappers..
